ISSE NZ Reports

The Institute of Sathya Sai Education (ISSE NZ), recognized by the Sri Sathya Sai World Foundation, is a part of a world-wide network of educational institutions, established to promote the principles and programs of Sathya Sai Education in Human Values (SSEHV), in schools and communities in NZ. They facilitate the understanding and application of the principles of Sathya Sai Education, based on the teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, through the practice of Truth, Love, Peace, Right Conduct, and Non-violence for the total development of human personality and character.

ISSE (NZ) is responsible for the governance of Sathya Sai Preschool Rongomai and has also undertaken the task of training the trainers, teachers and facilitators within the Sri Sathya Sai Organisation of NZ. The ISSE in New Zealand has entered a new phase and is looking to establish a firm foundation on which an integrated educational provision, under the overarching concept of EDUCARE, can be delivered to serve the needs of all peoples in New Zealand.

New Zealand has a unique situation in that it is enshrined in legislation, and in the social framework, that the indigenous people, the Maori, be not only acknowledged as special guardians (kaitiake) of the land and the culture of the land, but also have an understanding of their culture and spirituality be provided within the educational system.

The ISSE has recently embarked on a series of training programmes to ensure that we have a solid core of trained teachers in the SSE and SSEHV provision. This programme is ongoing, but a recent graduation of 15 students from the Intermediate programme and a further 12 from the Foundation Course (trained by local trainers) is encouraging. However the challenges are manifest and many and the ISSE will continue to grow to meet these, in partnership with the Sri Sathya Sai Organisation and the Sathya Sai Values, Education and Service Trust NZ.

23 November 2020: The ISSE wishes to implement the SSEHV Digital education framework as an electronic tool, which would be available online for tutors to ascertain their areas of strength and opportunities for them to improve their  online application skills and operating system. This program is being launched as a 95th Birthday offering to our Bhagawan Sathya Sai Baba. Click here to view the framework document.
